What you need to get started
There are only two prerequisites needed to use PDP:
- Have an email to create an account.
- Have enough tokens of the network you want to deploy your Polkadot Native Rollup on.
Tokens for the Network
To deploy a Polkadot Native Rollup, your account will need to hold tokens to do two things.
- Paying fees: These are non-recoverable tokens used to pay fees for registering and interacting with the network. An example of this is buying a core.
- Token reservations: The Polkadot Network performs certain operations that require tokens to be reserved while the action is taking place. An example of this is registering a parachain, which requires some tokens to be reserved. Once the project is closed, the tokens can be unreserved and returned to the wallet that reserved them.
In the PDP, we clearly detail these costs before you deploy your Polkadot Native Rollup.

Where to Get Tokens
This process will differ depending on whether you’re using a production network or a test network.
Test Networks: Paseo and Westend
For these two networks, you can obtain tokens using the available faucet. You only need tokens on the Relay Chain.
Production Networks: Kusama and Polkadot
The tokens for these networks are widely available through multiple centralized exchanges, including Binance, Kraken, and MEXC. Additionally, you can acquire these tokens on decentralized exchanges within the Polkadot Network, such as Hydration.
